Rules

Team Protocol

  • Each team may roster up to 7 players and 1 goalie
  • Create a team name
  • Please attend the event in matching team jerseys – Have some fun with it!
  • All games will be coached by your team’s GM/Coaching Staff
    • One “Coach” per team per game
      • Parent, older sibling, etc
      • Coaches are allowed to rotate games
  • When your team is NOT playing you may spectate in the neutral zone, the open benches, or exit the ice surface during your break.

Game-Play

  • Cross-Ice Format
  • NON Checking Event
  • Post Goal Tag-Up
    • After a goal is scored the scoring team must skate behind their own net before being allowed to defend their opponent.
    • The team who was just scored on must fetch the puck out of their own net and restart play with the puck behind their own net
  • Penalties
    • This will result in a live shootout at each occurrence.
      • The player who drew the penalty receives a shootout opportunity while the players on both teams are lined up on the goal line of the attacking team and chase down the player who is attempting the penalty shot, resulting in immediate live play after the shot is taken
    • Major penalties result in immediate expulsion from the tournament
  • Clock Stoppages
    • Necessary referee deliberation
    • Injuries
  • USA Hockey Certified Referees

Event Format

  • Two 8 Minute Running Time Halves
  • 2 Minute Warm-Up
  • 1 Minute Half Time
  • No Overtime
    • 6 Team Division
    • Round Robin
      • Each team plays five games, playing each team once
      • Win = 3 Points
      • Loss = 0 Points
      • Tie = 1 Point
    • Playoffs
      • Each team will make the playoffs
      • Single Elimination
        • Teams losing in the semi-finals will play a consultation game concurrently with the Championship game
      • Playoff seeding will be based on total team points accumulated (see the section below for tiebreakers)
        • The top two seeds receive a first-round bye

Tie Breakers

If teams are tied in the standings, the following tie-breaking rules will apply, in order:

  1. Head to Head. Results in the games played between the tied teams.
  2. Goal Differential. Goals for minus goals against in all games played.
  3. The most goals for in Round Robin play
